Fire safety. Asbestos. Water hygiene. Ventilation. Electrical testing. If you have spent years building one of these and have begun thinking about what comes next, we would like to talk.
Two partners, not a fund. No investment committee, and nobody behind us setting a timetable.
Between us we have built and run operating businesses, and worked on the finance side with owner-managed companies of exactly this size. One of us is completing existing commitments, which is why you will not find our names here yet. We will tell you who we are, and who we have worked for, on the first call — we would rather do that properly than put a page of biography in front of someone we have never met.
If this describes your business — or a client's — we should have a conversation.
| Criterion | Detail |
|---|---|
| Statutory compliance | Inspection, testing and certification a building owner is required by law to have done. Fire risk assessment, asbestos, Legionella and water hygiene, ventilation, electrical. |
| £2m–£10m turnover | With operating profit of roughly £300,000 or more, and work that recurs each year because the law requires it. |
| Ten years or longer | A settled reputation and customers who have been with you a long time. Not start-ups, and not turnarounds. |
| Owner-managed | Built by someone who still runs it, usually with a team who have been there for years. |
| Anywhere in the UK | We are based in the Midlands and will travel. Location does not decide it. |
| An owner ready for the next stage | Retirement, stepping back, or taking money off the table and staying on. |
The part that matters most, and the part most buyers are vague about.
You spent years building a reputation in your area. Removing it would destroy the thing we are buying. The business keeps its name, its branding and its relationships.
Qualified surveyors and engineers are the hardest thing in this industry to find. We are buying a business that works because of the people in it. We are not going to let them go.
We are not working to anybody else's timetable, and we are not looking for a quick exit. We buy businesses to run them for the long term — which is what the name is meant to convey.
Some owners hand over the keys and go. Others keep a hand in for a few years without the paperwork. Both are fine, and we will structure around whichever you want.
Better systems, less admin, and the back-office work taken off people who would rather be doing the job they trained for.
An hour, in confidence, no obligation either way. Most people we speak to are not ready to sell, and that is fine — we would still like to know you.
If it looks like a fit we will tell you what we think the business is worth and how we would structure it. A straight answer, not a range designed to be renegotiated.
A proper look at the numbers and the operations, kept proportionate. This is a business, not an audit.
We tell you at the outset what we will need and we stick to it. No last-minute changes to price or terms, and we will not drag it out.
If you act for a compliance business whose owner is thinking about the next stage, we welcome an introduction.
We pay an introducer fee, agreed in writing before anything happens. We keep you informed throughout and we do not go around you. If the business is not right for us we will say so quickly rather than leaving your client waiting.
One email or one phone call. No forms, no automated follow-up, and nobody passing you to somebody else.
